Brenda C. Edwards, O.D.
Dr. Brenda Edwards is originally from southeast Missouri but has been a resident of Kansas since 1988. She earned a Chemistry degree from the University of Missouri in Columbia in 1984. Her optometry degree is from the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago. She was a recipient of the Kenneth P. Martin Clinical Achievement Award and a member of the Gold Key Honor Society for leadership and academic performance. She completed her residency at the Kansas City VA medical center in 1989.
Dr. Edwards’ chief focus in practice is primary eye care for adults and children and specialty contact lenses. She manages glaucoma, patients with diabetes and cataracts, and treats a broad spectrum of dry eye disease. She also serves as a principal investigator for a number of studies including research on dry eye disease, glaucoma and contact lenses.
Dr. Edwards has been with Heart of America Eye Care since 1990. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and is Board Certified by the American Board of Medical Optometry. She is a member of the Kansas Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association.
